Kestrels Fly High with Superb 5-0 Win Over Thatcham Harriers!
The Kestrels played their second game of the season at Bellow against Thatcham Harriers, who, like us, are new to the league but have been together for a number of years. On a very bumpy pitch that made it tough to play flowing football, the lads rose to the challenge, finding their stride and producing some excellent link-up play while creating plenty of chances.
The game started evenly, but it was the Kestrels who struck first. Some fantastic wing play from Thomas set up Joseph, who was in the right place to make it 1-0. Thatcham then had a big chance to equalise, breaking through one-on-one, but Henners stood tall and pulled off a brilliant save to keep us ahead. That moment shifted the momentum, and from there the Kestrels took control.
Substitutes made an immediate impact, especially down the wings. Joseph turned provider for Zachary, who doubled the lead with a fine finish. Shortly after, Maxi combined brilliantly with Zachary, who bagged his second and made it 3-0 just before the half-time whistle.
The second half was all about composure and confidence, and the lads delivered exactly that. Even when asked to cover out of position, the defence held strong and denied Thatcham any way back into the game. In midfield, the team showed real improvement from last week, winning first and second balls and controlling the tempo.
Further goals followed: Zac set up Zachary for his hat-trick and the team’s fourth, before Archie laid on a perfect assist for Zac to score the fifth and final goal of the match. The Kestrels continued pushing until the end and could easily have added more, but the scoreline was still a fantastic reflection of their dominance.
It was a strong, fun, and hard-working performance from start to finish. We are very happy coaches, and the lads should be really proud of themselves – five goals, a clean sheet, and plenty of positives to build on for the season ahead.
Final Score: Kestrels 5 – 0 Thatcham Harriers 🔥
⚽🦅 Well done lads – a fantastic team effort and a performance.
