4-3 Loss

Having played Bromley already we knew we’d have a tough game on our hands.

We dominated 3 of the 4 qtrs, but it came down to 1 qtr, 1 player and maybe the odd mistake to beat us. Putting that qtr aside, I was really pleased with the play from the boys. The aggression when needed, absorbing pressure and pressing was brilliant, along with the chances created.

We had a number of challenges through the game with injuries and illness. But we didn’t put our heads down and played right to the end. Actually unlucky I thought not to come away with something. If we had a few minutes more we were definitely knocking on the door. Hold your head high boys — no shame in today’s performance.

Even with a rare loss we should still be so proud of what we’ve accomplished these last few years. We are a traditional grassroots team not just playing but really competing in the highest division in an academy‑dominated league, showing them we are just as good or even better. Getting to see some quality clubs and grounds.

It may not have been our day today but it will only push us harder to take the win next time.

Always a great feeling seeing academies excited to play us. Shows how good our reputation is.
