MAFC Kites vs RTB Academy – 4–1 Win
What a difference.
Today’s messages from the coaches were much more individualised – exactly what I wanted to see from each player and position. We focused on getting back to our attacking style, using the channels and moving the ball quicker from the back. The lads really took that on board and executed it brilliantly.
We looked solid all over the pitch. RTB struggled to cope with our pace and relentless attacking. Credit to their goalkeeper who made several excellent saves – on another day, we could have had a few more goals.
I’m incredibly proud of the team today, and I especially enjoyed that first half.
I’m still not entirely sure why their coach reacted the way he did. I’ve watched the game back a few times, and there was no intent to harm – no reckless or over‑the‑top challenges. Everything was played in good spirit. It’s a shame, because ultimately it’s the boys who miss out.
I’ve spoken to a contact of mine, who is the club chairman, and the situation is now being looked into. I don’t want it to take anything away from what was an excellent display of football.
Training is on Monday, then we have the following week off. I’ve got eggs for the boys — so make sure you’re there, or I might end up eating them myself 😆
Enjoy your weekend!
