Kestrels Claim Maximum Six Points in Tough Double Header at Bellew Road

The Kestrels returned to Bellew Road for the first time since early November, and after weeks of relentless rain it was clear the pitch had taken a battering. The surface was heavy, lumpy and unpredictable β€” but the same challenge faced both teams. The message before kick-off was simple: start fast, press hard and impose ourselves early.

And that’s exactly what the Kestrels did.

Despite the difficult conditions, the boys quickly adapted and began to find their rhythm. The ball was bouncing unpredictably across the surface, but the Kestrels showed great composure and determination to take the lead with some excellent attacking play.

However, football always has a way of testing you. Shortly after going ahead, the opposition managed to find a pocket of space in the middle as our press slowed momentarily. A long-range effort followed and found the net to level the score.

But if anything, that moment only sparked the Kestrels into life.

From that point on the boys began to dominate. Strong pressing, clever movement and confident attacking play saw the Kestrels create chance after chance. While the second 20-minute period became a bit scrappier as both sides battled the difficult surface, the Kestrels showed their quality and resilience, eventually powering their way to a convincing 5–1 victory.

Three points secured. Job half done.
