*Match Report: Kestrels Rise to the Challenge Against Purley Jubilee Lions!*🔵🟡

Today the Kestrels faced Purley Jubilee Lions — a side newly promoted after dominating their previous division and winning all their games comfortably this season. We knew it may not be an easy fixture, but that unknown factor gave the game an exciting edge.

From the first whistle, it was clear that Purley were a strong, physical, and well-organised team (with Academy managers) — and definitely a level above where they’ve been placed. They pressed hard and tested our defence early on, forcing Henry into several top saves to keep us level. His bravery and sharp reactions gave the team confidence, and we gradually settled into our passing game.

We asked the lads to keep the ball, link up as a team, and not be afraid to play backwards when needed — and they delivered. Once we started using the wings and moving the ball quickly, spaces began to open up. A few neat passages of play and smart link-ups led to us taking the lead, and the confidence flowed from there. By halftime, the Kestrels were 3–0 up thanks to some composed finishing, hard graft in midfield, and defensive.

The message at halftime was simple: stay calm, match their physicality, and keep playing our football. Purley came out fighting in the second half, making it a real battle. They pulled one back after a long ball and a sharp finish from their striker, but our lads didn’t crumble. Instead, they dug in, worked hard off the ball, and continued to create chances — with several more goals narrowly missed.

Despite our opposition deliberately making some naughty challenges, rough play and a referee who struggled to control the game at times, the Kestrels kept their composure and showed real maturity. The lads fought for every ball, supported each other brilliantly, and managed the game right to the final whistle. This was exactly the kind of test we needed — tough, physical, and competitive — and the boys rose to it superbly. 💪

*Joseph* was outstanding today. Since returning from injury, he’s been working hard to regain his confidence and match sharpness, and it really showed. His work rate, strength on the ball, and willingness to press from the front were excellent. He played with real determination — well deserved! 👏

*Well done, Kestrels!*
A brilliant all-round performance — teamwork, resilience throughout. Let’s keep that momentum going!
